QINGDAO INTERNATIONAL BEER FESTIVAL 2009
CHINA’S version of Oktoberfest is here in August!
Beginning on August 15th, hundreds of thousands of Chinese, expats and international travelers will head to
the beaches of Qingdao in Shandong Province for the 19th annual Qingdao Beer Festival. The 16-day festival is
easily China's largest suds celebration and runs through August 30th, featuring an array of beers from around
the world. Attendees are expected to consume over 1,000 tons of brew, mainly local favorite Tsingtao.
The opening and closing ceremonies, as well as numerous beer drinking competitions and performances, are
set to take place at Qingdao International Beer City (entrance ranges from RMB 10-20 (USD 1.50-3.00)
depending on hour of entry), while other notable venues include Hui Quan Square and Pijiu Jie (Beer Street).
Qingdao is probably the most quaint “European” city in China. It has been the international port of call for the
European trading ships for centuries. Extensive European architectural, culinary and cultural influences can
still be seen and experienced as one strolls down the streets and harbor areas in this unique city.
Qingdao International Beer Festival package is a free-and-easy travel arrangement that will include international
roundtrip airfares either between Los Angeles or San Francisco and the city of Qingdao in China on Asiana
Airlines, and 3 nights’ stay (double occupancy basis) at one of Qingdao’s 5-star luxurious accommodation
(Qingdao Doubletree Hotel, Prince Hotel or similar). The rest is on your own fun and leisure in a city that does
not sleep during the Qingdao International Beer Festival. Optional add-ons and extensions are available.
